This past weekend was a doozy at The Madison Community Arts Center! Friday we had a Drag Bingo event that benefited Mutual Morris, who is a huge resource for our community members who are in crisis. Then Saturday (4/20) I hosted an event called Spring into Song with the Drew University Music Society where Drew student musicians alternated playing on the indoor and outdoor stage. We had a food truck who were AMAZING, prizes to give away, pop up shops, tarot card readings, tie-dye, and other arts & crafts. It was a beautiful day.
Sunday (4/21) was the FIRST Vegan in NJ Pop Up Market at the Madison Community Arts Center and it was so freaking amazing. Check out some recap reels on our IG! Here’s another one! There was a variety of amazing vegan food from places near and far, art, sweets, games, clothing, candles, jewelry, animal welfare organizations, and so much more. We also had a DJ and live music from Olivia Eden, The Whosis Kid, and Jonathan Francis. It was an amazing day full of community, dogs, families, and good vibes. Below you can see a picture of Cherise (& baby) and I with the dog I just adopted (about a week ago) from St. Hubert’s Animal Shelter! St. Hubert’s also had a table at the event and brought one of their wonderful adoptable dogs, Milan. We absolutely can’t wait for the next one we do here (TBA soon!). Cherise is the mastermind behind Vegan in NJ, which is a wonderful community resource for vegans to connect. She does a monthly market down in Neptune that everyone should check out. I am so grateful she was willing to do a pop up market here in Madison, NJ. Here’s to more to come!
Come Original Showcase on May 25, 2024 | 7pm
Auburn Grey is rock band from New Jersey who gig all around the tristate area. Their bassist and guitarist both sing and their sound is electric. Can't wait to see this band; check out this video of them! I've known Bad Blooms for about 8 solid years as a duo. This will be one of their first shows as a five piece band, and I couldn't be more excited about it! They just released an EP last month called Goodbye that you can listen to here! Get ready for some chilling lyrics, ukulele, trombone, and guitar that you will feel in your soul. Watch their new video for Quicksand here! I love this band so much, I know you will too. Off-Knowneous is a newer band that I saw last summer at the most organized DIY backyard show I've ever seen called Cozy Fest. They are an Asian American alternative rock band based out of Bergen County, NJ who play covers of music from popular anime and Japanese video game soundtracks. Uniting over the love of both anime and Japanese rock music, Off-Knowneous also writes and performs original music with lyrics in Japanese, English, and Korean. Their set blew me away! You're not going to want to miss this show! Watch a video of them here!
